Hyderabad: England’s star right-handed batsman Joe Root equaled former captain Alastair Cook’s record with a brilliant century on the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Lord’s. Cook has scored the most Test centuries for England with 33.
In the second Test against Sri Lanka, England batted first and scored a total of 427 runs. In which Root’s 143 runs and Actinson’s 118 runs were prominent.
Root completed his 33rd century off 162 balls. With which he became the 10th most Test centuries batsman in world cricket. This feat of Joe Root is also special because he made this record in his 145th match while Cook played 161 matches.

Root recently completed his 12,000th Test run and became the 7th-highest run-scorer of all time. Root has scored a total of 12274 runs in 265 innings of 145 Test matches at an average of 50.71. Which includes 5 double centuries, 33 centuries, and 64 fifties.
Sachin Tendulkar’s record in danger
England’s star batsman Joe Root can break the record of 15921 Test runs held by great batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Root has so far scored 12,274 Test runs and is now just 3,647 runs away from breaking Tendulkar’s record. Joe Root is still only 33 years old and still has a lot of cricket left in him. Due to which it will not be difficult for him to break Tendulkar’s record.
Based on the current form of Joe Root, he will break the record of 51 Test centuries of former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar tops the list of most Test centuries with 51 centuries in 200 Test matches from 1989 to 2013.
